William J. Conard, M.D.

Dr. Conard was born and raised in Minnesota. He received his undergraduate degree from Macalester College in St. Paul and his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He completed his internship at San Bernardino General Hospital and his anesthesiology residency at University of California, Davis. He started his private practice of anesthesiology in Yolo County in 1977 and moved it to Sutter Hospitals in Sacramento in 1983. He has served as Chief of Anesthesiology at Sutter Hospitals, as president of Central Anesthesia Service Exchange Medial Group, Inc., as Medical Director of Pain Diagnostic and Treatment Center and Medical Director of Asclepius Pain Management. He is certified in anesthesiology with subspecialty certification in pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology and in pain medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine.

 

Stephen K. Parkinson, M.D.

Stephen Parkinson, M.D., is Medical Director at Pain Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Sacramento, CA where his focus is on diagnostic and therapeutic spinal injections. He grew up in Ashton, Idaho graduated from the University of Utah College of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Parkinson completed his fellowship training at Navel Hospital in San Diego, CA and Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Parkinson, who is on the American Board of Anesthesiology certified with subspecialty in pain management, began his career in anesthesiology in 1985 at Portsmouth Navel Hospital as Director of Regional Anesthesia. He is committed to helping patients get relief from pain and suffering by finding the best treatment options for their needs. Dr. Parkinson enjoys spending time with his family and being an active member of his church in his free time.

 

Natalya Shtutman, M.D.

Natalya Shtutman, M.D., began her career in medicine after graduating from the Moscow Medical Academy in 1987 with a degree in Internal Medicine and Rehabilitation. She moved to the United States in 1994 and completed her internship at the Maimonides Medical Center in New York City and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UC Davis Medical Center. During her residency, Dr. Shtutman became passionate about treating pain sufferers and helping them live more functional life again. She is Medical Director at Asclepius Pain Management specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. As part of her practice, she helps with pain management, treats work-related injuries and performs Electromyogram (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). Dr. Shtutman has been practicing in the Sacramento area for over 10 years and achieved numerous successes with difficult cases. Besides her commitment to helping her patients, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading, dancing, going to theatres, and visiting museums.

Steve Peres, PA-C

Steve Peres, PA-C, began his career as a physician’s assistant in 2002. He is a Sacramento native and studied at American River College. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah with a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and a master’s degree in exercise physiology. Playing sports as a kid and loving to help others led to Steve’s interest in sports medicine and exercise physiology since it combines his two passions. Steve is dedicated to working with patients to create a personal pain management program that enables them to live a life of accomplishment, enjoyment, satisfaction, freedom and appreciation. Besides helping others, Steve is a devoted father to his three boys and loves cycling.

Jeanie Heller, R.N., Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Jeanie Heller, R.N. has worked in the medical field since 1995 where she began as an emergency medical technician. She grew up in Westchester, NY and studied to be a ballet dancer. However, after being inspired by watching nurses care for a sick friend, she decided that was her calling and earned her nursing degree from California State University, Sacramento. Her primary experience is in critical care, trauma, and emergency room nursing. She is passionate about her profession and helping others. Jeanie also enjoys working out, rollerblading, reading, and spending time with her two cats and dog Misha.

Paul Wright, Executive Director of Functional Conditioning and Fitness Facility

Paul Wright established Savvy Fitness in 1991 with a primary vision of providing the greatest opportunity for individual’s to receive the education, direction, and motivation necessary to create change. Paul began his career as an educator at the high school and collegiate levels garnering 34 years of experience in the fitness industry. Savvy Fitness’ mission is to create a unique experience which inspires personal responsibility for health and well-being and the discovery of the full human potential. At Asclepius Pain Management, Savvy Fitness works closely with the clinical staff to provide each patient with the appropriate corrective exercise and physical conditioning required to reduce symptomatic pain, restore physical functioning and improve overall quality of life.

Jeff Rheault, Director of Functional Conditioning Programming

Jeff Rheault has 25 years of experience as a health and fitness personal trainer and began working with Savvy Fitness in 1994. Jeff has worked with Savvy Executive Director, Paul Wright to create health and fitness programming that provides the individual with education, demonstration, participation, correction, and repetition necessary for establishing lasting lifestyle changes. Jeff is credentialed by the American College of Sports Medicine with extensive studies in nutrition and dietetics.

 

Andrea Adams, Functional Conditioning Specialist

Andrea Adams has a bachelor’s degree in physical education and certifications with the American College of Sports Medicine and Stott Pilates. Since 2004 Andrea has worked for Savvy Fitness, specializing in corrective exercise and functional conditioning. She spent 20 years touring the United States and Europe as a professional dancer and instructor.  Andrea began her career as a fitness professional in 1998 motivated by her desire to keep people moving through the challenges of injury and aging.

Mark Bonser, Functional Conditioning Specialist

Mark Bonser is from Leicestershire, England and studied at Loughborough College receiving a certification in sports science. He also received his National Personal Training Institute and National Academy of Sports Medicine certifications. Mark recently joined the Savvy Fitness team and brings a tremendous passion for helping people improve their quality of life through education and physical conditioning, with a focus on postural awareness.

 

Andrea Seppinni, Personal Chef, Healing Diets

Asclepius in-house chef Andrea Seppinni is passionate about sharing tips and techniques for preparing delectable whole-foods plant based dishes with a focus on ingredients’ anti-inflammatory health benefits as well as good taste.  In addition to classical culinary training from Kitchen Academy, Sacramento and 30 years experience in the kitchen, Andrea has a certificate in plant based nutrition from the T. Collin Campbell Foundation, Cornell University. She uses this varied food knowledge to guide her students through simple preparation of seasonal dishes from local ingredients which make the most of the farmers’ market bounty. Andrea was raised in Sacramento and graduated from California State University, Chico with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She enjoys time with her family, cooking, yoga, organic gardening, reading, art, theatre, and travel.

Ann DaPrato, RYT-500, Restorative Yoga Instructor

Ann is the restorative yoga instructor at Asclepius Pain Management and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is the founder and studio director of Rise Yoga Studio. Ann began her yoga career in 2004 teaching Vinyasa Yoga. Over the years she has studied various yoga lineages to broaden her personal awareness, knowledge and heart. She brings real-world education to her students drawn from diverse spiritual traditions and personal life experiences. Ann earned her 500-hour teaching certification from Bhakti Warrior Yoga in Sacramento, CA and teaches yoga studies programs. With the intention of teaching yoga to heal body, mind and spirit, she has helped many people regain their sense of wellbeing and balance.

Andrew Conard, Director of Food Education & Administrative Assistant for Research and Program Development

Developing practical accessible ways for people to manage their own health is at the heart of what motivates Andrew Conard to immerse himself in every level of the food system. Through years of working with chronic pain patients, he sees continual proof that whole-foods nutrition not only reduces inflammatory conditions such as chronic pain, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, but in many cases can reverse them. Andrew is dedicated to creating a local, sustainable, organic, affordable food system readily available to everyone. He continually works to unite experts from all facets of the food world to offer comprehensive accurate information, services and classes for Asclepius patients. Andrew has a certificate in plant based nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Foundation, Cornell, University.  In his free time Andrew enjoys camping, film, theatre, music, art, literature, and urban organic gardening.
